Did you know that raw honey is naturally anti-bacterial? It is even used to treat wounds and burns in some hospitals. In a process that is still not fully understood, raw honey activates hydrogen peroxide when it comes into contact with moisture making it ideal for cuts and abrasions. This is one component that keeps honey sterile, clinical tests have also shown that when applied to burns honey increases oxygenation to the growing skin cells aiding in faster healing. Our local honey is raw which means it hasn't been heat treated. We don't use ultra-fine or high pressure filtering but instead let the freshly uncapped honey drip through strainers with the aid of nothing more than gravity. This retains all the trace elements and leaves the natural enzymes intact. Much sought after by those with allergies. Honey types depend on the area and time of year, despite being urban though our thoughtful hive placement means the bees have access to river red gums, sugar gums, karkalla, bottlebrush, yellow box and a whole range of other indigenous plants that line the green corridors we select.
Marmalade was originally made with honey and the Romans used to slowly cook Quinces in it to make a preserve. In England an Orange marmalade was made by mashing oranges and honey together and cooking until set into thick blocks, this would then be cut as needed.
Our marmalade recipe is 300 years old and a bit easier to spread. Handed down through the family it comes in fine cut, for those who want a lovely sweet orangey treat on their toast, or thick cut for those who love a bit of sharpness. Organic oranges and our pure local honey are blended together in an ancient process that takes 3 days to complete and even those who say they don't like marmalade have been converted when they try ours.
The beeswax used in our lip balms is from the honey cappings which are left over after each extraction. Cappings are the freshest and newest wax in the hive and combined with natural oils and our pure raw honey these lip balms are good enough to eat and will leave your lips feeling smooth and refreshed. Just the smallest amount is needed in order for all the natural ingredients to get to work. If you're feeling run down try the essential oil balms, their astringent qualities are perefectly buffered by the gentle beeswax and these powerful lip balms for night time use will get to work at those moments when you need a boost.
NATURALUsing traditional methods our furniture polish is made with pure bees wax and wood oils. The turpentine oil used is not to be confused with the petro chemical 'turps' but is real turpentine oil which is distilled from the sap of the pine tree. This is perfect for those treasured antiques or even your everyday wooden furniture.
